BMW R65 Cafe Scrambler Build – Part 4

I attended an event in Dubai last night and someone asked me last night how much of the original Bike was now on the R65, which made me think?

So what was in the Box I picked up?

1. Frame
2. Wheels – without Tyres
3. Engine – now upgraded
4. Gearbox
5. Carbs – now upgraded
6. Final Drive – now upgraded
7. Forks

Even more important what was missing?

1. Wiring Loom
2. Tyres
3. Seat

What did I discard and throw away?

1. Lights
2. Mudgaurds
3. Petrol Tank – it was very rusty and was not salvagable easily

So, I’d reckon the answer to the question is around 70/80% of the Original is still on the Bike.. with lots of upgrades and custom parts made.

Rear mudguard was binned, as was light units, Gearbox and Forks were all re-used.

Powder coated Frame all ready to rebuild
