One of the only weeknesses on old Bikes is usually the Charging and Ignition systems. The BMW Airhead from the 80’s is no exception.
Once I got the Bike in Dubai I discovered it wasn’t charging properly and it was using up Batteries. I now think it was never charging properly from the Build date in 2014, but using it regularly in the heat showed things up.
I decided on two things
- A replacement to the Beancan mechanical ignition unit.
- An upgraded 450w charging system from Euromotoelectrics
While these both come with instructions, they have made a massive difference to the Bikes reliability starting and combustion. Well recommended.
