Well, after it’s world tour, 4 years after it’s initial build the R65 finally gave up the ghost.
It decided to chew up one of it’s bearings in the bottom end and stop working… Engine kaputt…
So Engine out, diagnosis shows that the Piston was hitting th ehead, only briefly as I stopped riding, but full Engine replacement ensued.
You can see the marks the Valve was making once I’d taken the head off here.
Here’s a picture of the Bearing. Clearly shot to pieces.
After a couple of weeks of deliveration I discovered a collapsed Oil Filter, but still no logical reason for failure other than Oil deprevation some how, so proceeded to secure a new Engine block and rebuild.
Perhaps took around a day or so to fit a new Engine, swop over ancilliaries and get it back on the Road again, while I continue to puzzle over the original Engines failure…
