So – it ran, however briefly, but it did sit there, a little rough but later I have this down to worn Z Pipe and knackered inlet manifolds – now replaced.
It revved, the clutch engage, the gearbox worked and the rear wheel turned…
So, two options:
Option 1 – Continue to complete and take to an MOT Test
Option 2 – Strip is back to basics, inspect, clean and replace anything duff, repaint frame and bodywork then take to an MOT test.
Which would you choose?
Well, some would choose 1 then perform on ongoing resto, but I wasn’t happy with the Rusty frame and general condition so proceeded to Option 2!
Here’s a few pictures of the breakdown and strip – everything achieved with standard tools, sockets and in a single garage….
I love the K75s engineering, have stripped my RT back to Frame and drive twice before I knew what to undoe and how it came apart…
- Undoe all connectors
- Undoe four main Pins Frame to Engine
- Remove rear Shock
- Disconnect rear Brake Caliper
- Support the Engine
- Walk the Frame off the Engine….
It’s a brilliant design that leaves the Engine and Gearbox and Rear Drive sitting there intact while the Frame and front Wheel scoots off into it’s own world…
